After going winless for four games, Power Dynamos Football Club (PDFC) finally broke their losing streak on October 5, 2024, at Arthur Davies Stadium, thumping newcomers Atletico Lusaka 5-0.
Austin Muwowo’s double, coupled with goals from Kondwani Chiboni, Dominic Chanda, and John Soko, secured a convincing victory for Osward Mutapa’s side while there was a man-of-the match performance from Prince Mumba on his full debut.
Atletico Lusaka dominated the opening 10 minutes of play, prompting cheers from the near capacity crowd at Arthur Davies stadium, but it was Power Dynamos that struck against the run of play through Muwowo’s header following a Prince Mumba cross in the 10th minute.
Kondwani Chiboni doubled the lead in the 29th minute, courtesy of Ismael Ankobo’s assist.
The teams went into the break with Power leading by two goals to nil.
The second half saw Power Dynamos assert their dominance, adding three more goals including Austin Muwowo’s second goal in the 55th minute, crafted by Ankobo, and Dominic Chanda’s close-range finish in the 85th minute.
John Soko’s calm header in stoppage time completed the route and handed Power a convincing win over Atletico Lusaka, reeling with confidence fresh off a 2-1 victory over Nkana FC a week earlier.
After the game, Coach Osward Mutapa praised his team for capitalising on their chances, addressing the issues that led to four consecutive draws and a loss.
After the completion of all matches in week seven, Power Dynamos has climbed to seventh place on the log, accumulating 10 points, which puts them six points behind table-toppers ZESCO United.
Next, Power Dynamos face MUZA FC away in Week 8, after the international break.
