Defence Still Within Reach – Mutapa
Despite a disappointing performance in recent matches of the FAZ-MTN Super League, Power Dynamos remains hopeful of defending their title.
In the match that took place on April 6, 2024, at their home turf, the Club suffered a 1-0 defeat against the top-ranked Red Arrows Football Club. This was despite the numerous opportunities that were created during the match.
According to Head Coach Osward Mutapa, the Club still has 21 points up for grabs in the remaining seven league games.
Mutapa recognises that his team’s main hurdle lies in scoring, emphasising the need for improvement in this aspect.
“During the matches played in weeks 26 and 27, our performance was commendable. However, football’s outcome ultimately hinges on scoring goals. We must put in the effort to ensure that players maintain composure when aiming for the goal,” he added.
Yesterday’s defeat against Red Arrows marks the first loss during Mutapa’s tenure and the first at home this season.
The team currently sits in fourth place with 45 points, trailing league leaders Red Arrows Football Club by a margin of 12 points.
Zesco United currently holds the second spot in the standings with a total of 50 points, while Maestro United of Zambia Football Club (MUZA FC) trails behind with 46 points.
This weekend, the Club will be shifting its attention to the upcoming ABSA Cup quarterfinals.
